Oh What a Beautiful Morning....

Oh ya'll....I did not take early retirement so that we could wake up at 5:15 and be playing by 6:30. I am not sure about the happy hearts in this house today!!!! Gotta go, I feel a nap coming on.

Just thought I would add a little this afternoon. We made it!! Thank you Kimber for the use of your crib and thank you Caroline for a GIANT nap this afternoon.

I also want to share how lucky I feel to have such great friends. I am having such a good time with all of my new "mommy" friends. It is so fun to have a group who is going through all of the same stuff at the same time.

Also, in the last two days I have spent time with two of my oldest friends. Today I got to spend the day with my friend Kimber and her two precious girls. I can't believe how big they are and how sweet! I love you tons Kimber, and I am not sure what I would have done with out you all these years. And... Janice!!!! I am so glad that we reconnected again. I can't wait to see you next week.

Party Time!

Sunday we had a party for my mom's group at our house. Somehow we missed pictures of us and of several couples. It was fun to have so many babies around that are all about the same age. This group has been a God's send for me. It is nice to bounce ideas off of other people or commiserate because we are all in the same sleep deprived state!

On Monday Caroline and I went to spend the day with gg. I gave Caroline her first teething biscuit....whoa! What a mess!!! By the time it was all said and done she was in her diaper in the bathtub.

Blessed

I am not sure what this mood is, but I am struck tonight by how faithful God is and I am humbled. I never imagined how sweet this life would be, and I am so thankful that Derrick and I have been entrusted with this sweet miracle.

Just Hangin'

Just thought I would share a picture of where I found Caroline this afternoon....under the coffee table! Since she refuses to make any effort toward crawling, I can only assume that she rolled....She is so funny!

Time to buy a boat?

Amy woke up last night at 2AM to take care of a crying Caroline. She woke me up soon after due to almost constant lightning - not much rain - but quite a light show. Well, when I went for a jog this morning, I noticed the culverts (about ten feet deep) had standing water about 3-5 feet up the walls. I then went home and grabbed the camera and below are some picture of the sidewalk leading to the park by our house.

Notice first, that there isn't much sidewalk left. Glad I don't work for the city and have to clean up this mess after the water recedes.

The four posts you see in this picture are the corners of the bridge across the creek leading to the park. The posts are about six feet tall - the bridge is about 10-12 feet above the creek. The debris has caught on the bridge rails so luckily the bridge is still there.

This is the sidewalk leading to what is normally an open field. Past the right of this picture, behind the trees, are some of the houses in the neighborhood.

This picture shows just how far back the water goes into the park. The set of trees in the middle of the picture is normally between some baseball fields and a football field - all underwater.

This is a picture of the backyard of a house across the street. The water is normally behind the line of trees in the background. I have been told that the houses across the street all have flood insurance because their backyards are partially in a 100 year flood plain. I would have never believed it if I hadn't taken the pictures.

Happy Father's Day!!!

We have had quite a busy day. This morning we braved a monsoon to enjoy a Father's Day breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants. It was so GROSS outside. I took this picture from inside the car. Caroline was so good and several people stopped and commented on how cute she was and told Derrick, "Happy Father's Day." Sometimes people are so nice!

After lunch and a much needed nap (Caroline wanted to wish Derrick Happy Father's Day at 5:00 a.m.) we went to visit my Mema. Caroline was really good and Mema enjoys her so much.

We had to end the afternoon with a quick photo session in the front yard.

I have been very mindful today of what a gift my family is. Derrick and I have waited a long time to be able to celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day. What a blessing Caroline is to us. Hope you had a good day, honey. Love you!

Dinner Time and First Swim

Dinner Time
Ok, so we waited longer than most to start solid food (much to the chagrin of both grandmothers), but Caroline is officially a foodie. Watch out Central Market, here we come!!! We usually love our food, although sometimes we like to see how much of it can go down our chin, onto our shirt and all over mom. Derrick insists that he never experiences any of this feeding fun...right.

Swimming
Derrick and I borrowed a friend's pool last weekend for Caroline's first swim. She really seemed to like it. Man she was worn out. We put the pack-n-play on the porch and she slept while Derrick and I got a little sun. I thought this was a really cute picture!

First Post

This is actually picture #3. When she is finished, she just rolls over

This should be the first picture. She is actually on all fours!!!

Here is dad trying to prod her along.

This is my new idea to help everyone keep up with what is going on in our world! We'll see how well I can manage to stay current.

Caroline is doing a really great job of sitting up, but she refuses to crawl!!! In fact Derrick and I were trying to entice her with toys yesterday and instead of crawling or scooting toward the toys, she pulled the toys to her with her blanket...smart and maybe a little lazy. Here are some pictures of our efforts today. Lots of rolling, and hanging out with dad. Not so much crawling. Oh well, I guess the longer she stays put the better for me...

OK, so this is my first post and I didn't really get the pictures in quite how I wanted them. Hope I'll get better with practice.
